Opening Day at the Market!
Opening Day time & place
Opening Day at the Mount Holly Farmers Market is back again-- this Saturday, May 14, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. We are in the same location as last year, which is the parking lot of Manor on Main at 226 S. Main St., Mount Holly, NC.
What our farmers are bringing to Market
We have many of the same farmer friends returning this year, as well as some exciting new faces. Here is a partial list of the fresh, in-season, local farm products they will be bringing:
Thomas Family Farms will be bringing goat cheeses: some usual favorites like Pimento Cheese, Crumbled Feta, Roasted Garlic, Marinated Feta and Chevre Logs as well as one of many new flavors like Garden Veggie. Don’t forget to take a look at their all-natural (as organic as you can make it) Silky Goat and Nature’s EssentOils skincare products. Not only do they have great moisturizing products like soap, lotion, and shampoo but they also have non-toxic sunscreen lotion and insect repellent...just in time for summer.
Suzie Q's is bringing back their excellent pasture-raised pork.
Ladybug will have home-baked bread, and if you missed it over the winter like me, you may want to buy more than one loaf and freeze what you can't use right away.
Nature's Way Farm will have fresh spring veggies and eggs.
Lucky Fish will be there bringing the seafood you crave, but get there early for seafood before it sells out!
Hoffman Family Farms is bring a few spring vegetables and strawberries.
Bud’s Plants will be bringing the plants you want for your garden at home
Cindy's Greenhouses will have beautiful flowers for you to choose from.
A newcomer to our market, Riverbend Heritage Farm, will have pasture raised chicken, eggs, and pork.
Another newcomer, Chef Kelly Hunter, will have sauces and rubs.
Jim Lanier, who spoke at the market last year about compost and soil, will bring products from Earth Farm, including earthworm castings.
Two Moons Farm will have grass fed beef, pasture raised non GMO chicken, free range eggs, beef dog bone chews, and also whole chickens on sale this week $4 a pound.
Also new this year-- Artisans!
By popular request, we have opened a limited amount of space in our market for high quality artisans. The artisans will be different each week, so be sure to come back again and again for the unique offerings.
Good Wood will be here this week with cutting boards.
Also, the Mobile Stone knife sharpener will be here, so bring those knives that you have been meaning to get sharpened, and he will sharpen them on site while you shop.
And don't forget our weekly program: It's Fiber Day
The Piedmont Fiber Guild will be offering live demonstrations of fiber arts, including knitting, spinning, and weaving. Many members of the guild will have goods for sale. Last year I bought my new favorite scarf, which was hand-dyed by the artist with natural, plant-based dyes.
See you Saturday!
